My son, Curtis, started barrel racing at the age of 7, and he and I were coached by the great barrel racing coach and
trainer Rosalie Turley of Benton Arkansas. We have owned and competed several champion horses, two of which we bred
and raised. Swift Dynasty and his half sister Flynn Dynasty have won numerous state championships, and have been world
ranked by both the American Quarter Horse Association and the
National Barrel Horse Association. Both horses have a Superior ranking with the American Quarter Horse Association,
which is the highest single event award the association bestows. My 5 year old granddaughter Aspen and her Welsh pony
Lucy qualified for the state championships in both barrel racing and pole bending in 2008, and will be campaigning heavily
in 2009. I love horses and kids, and am looking forward to a summer spent in the company of both.

Camp Director Penny Thornton

Qualifications:
Equine Instructor, Trainer, Champion Racer.
I have been on the back of a horse since I was 3 months old, and sitting in front of my mother. I was raised in the
Texas hill country riding stock horses. I spent several years after college riding and training thoroughbred race horses.
New Beginner Camp - This camp is for children with very little or no experience with horses.
Children will be restricted to walking on the horses unless otherwise directed by the Camp Director.
This camp will focus on learning the basics of proper riding, basic horse care, basic tack upkeep.

Beginner / Intermediate Camp - This camp is for children who have been around horses, and maybe
gone on a few trail rides, but would like to improve their riding skills, and become familiar with the
daily aspects of horses. This camp will focus on achieving intermediate camp riding abilities, with
pattern riding, team work maneuvers, second level horse care,

Intermediate Camp - This camp is for children with some riding experience, who are capable of
controlling their horse at a trot or equivalent gait. Children will be restricted to a trot or equivalent
gait unless otherwise directed by the Camp Director. This camp will focus on second level riding,
learning collection, ring maneuvers, more advanced horse care, basic medical care.

Intermediate/Advanced Camp - This camp is for children with good riding experience, who are
capable of controlling their horse at a canter. Children will be restricted to a canter unless otherwise
directed by the Camp Director. This camp will focus on high second level and the beginning of
advanced level riding, learning the uses of collection, advanced ring maneuvers, more advanced horse
care and basic medical care. This camp is best for kids that want to go faster, but are not yet ready
for serious speed or concentrated ring maneuvers.

Advanced Camp - This camp is for children with strong riding experience, who are capable of
controlling their horse at the canter or gallop. Children will be permitted to canter or gallop their
horses in controlled situations. This camp will focus on advanced level riding, learning dressage
maneuvers, reining patterns, barrels, and drill team maneuvers, along with professional horse care
(show horses) and basic veterinary care. This camp basically is for the "speed demons" who are very
comfortable with their horses, or if they don't yet have a horse, are strong riders who have ridden
steadily (minimum once a week) for at least a year.
